The COVID-19 pandemic has permanently changed the way we work and the workplace. The well-known maxim was that "The goal of any business is Profit". Today that goal extends to many things beyond, as businesses need to be open and run, even though not making a profit.
From the initial full lockdown times, survival became an issue, with economies of most countries getting strangled and businesses innovated to the New Normal. Work from home was a great tool and WFH became of age and very successfully adopted across businesses, except those which were completely high touch and physical. The virtual world and its capabilities multiplied multifold and is here to stay with those organizations not expecting or ever returning that workforce to the office. For those open businesses re-worked work-spaces to maintain social distancing, methodology to ensure air purification and air change, health and hygiene practices and systems to monitor that with its costs are now imperative.
The hotel and tourism industry being a completely physical delivery industry went ahead and implemented extreme measures of cleaning, sanitation and hygiene in line with strict “clinically clean” standards of hospitals. The new norm now is “No Touch” from “High Touch”
